On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, the Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director, Agen Lonspan Industries, Rt. Hon. Chevalier Andrew O. Agenmonmen, JP, KSG ,KSM.
During the visit, an award of humanitarian excellence was presented to Agenmonmen in recognition of his outstanding philanthropy and humanitarian support to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, particularly his contributions toward the improvement of healthcare delivery and service to humanity.
Speaking during the visit, the Chief Medical Director expressed profound appreciation to Rt. Hon. Chevalier Agenmomen for his unwavering support to the health sector, particularly his consistent intervention in the settlement of medical bills of indigent patients, thereby easing the burden on vulnerable families and saving lives. She commended his continued commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, lauded his dedication to humanity, and prayed for greater strength, increase, and many more years in good health and impactful service.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Agenmomen JP appreciated UBTH Management for the honour, stating that his philanthropy is driven by love for humanity. He noted that he has consistently supported indigent patients at UBTH for two decades, particularly through the settlement of medical bills. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining this support for life and expressed readiness for further collaboration with UBTH in advancing healthcare and service to humanity.
The visit also provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement, as discussions were held on potential areas of future collaboration aimed at further strengthening healthcare delivery and institutional partnerships for the benefit of patients and the wider community.
