The University of Benin Teaching Hospital in commemoration of her 50th Anniversary coming up next year 12th May, 2023 is organising a training for first responders and interested persons on Basic Life Support (BLS).

This training is to provide participants with the knowledge and skill required for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other relevant procedures needed in emergency situations.

Certificate of participation will also be given at the end of the training.

Date: 18th December, 2022
Time: 12.00 noon
Venue: Oba Ovoranmwen Park, Mission Road, Benin city.


The World Sexual Health Day is observed on September 4th of every year. It is an initiative designed by the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) to raise awareness and promote healthy sexual practices.

According to Dr (Mrs.) V.O. Abah. Consultant Family Physician and Coordinator Adolescent and Youth Health Clinic, Department of Family Medicine. University of Benin Teaching Hospital; “Sexual Health which is in line with the sexual reproductive health refers to the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being of an individual as related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity”.

Sexuality in itself refers to all things in terms of an individual’s own concept of his or her self in relation to the gender or genders which they are typically attracted to. This recounts to the intimacy and psychological state of being able to interact with any other human being as regards to intimacy.


Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is described as presence of symptoms and signs of kidney disease lasting more than 3 months. The symptoms include
  1. Generalised body weakness/chronic fatigue
  2. Body swelling.
  3. Reduced urinary output.
  4. Recurrent vomiting.
  5. Low blood level(Anemia).
  6. Recurrent hiccups.
  7. Seizures And lots more
The global incidence of kidney disease is currently on the increase. Causes include;
