“Caring for the elderly : Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic”

Dear elders and colleagues.

This year’s celebration of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons (UNIDOP) on October 1st is unique in many ways:

  • Nigeria turns 60 on October 1st – the cut off age for  “older person” set by the UN.
  • The Year 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of UNIDOP.
  • 2020 is also the 75th anniversary of the UN.
  • On March 9, 2020, the Elder Friendly Hospitals Initiative (ELDFRHI) was launched in UBTH by the Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie E. Ehanire.

We are seeking to raise a critical mass of Elder Friendly Champions across all sectors, beginning in our hospitals.

Please join us!

Transforming Global Health

This World Pharmacists Day is an opportunity to communicate how, together, pharmacists are transforming health through a variety of health services in their communities, including advising on healthy living, vaccinating to prevent disease, and ensuring that medicines are taken correctly. It’s also a chance to let people know how pharmaceutical scientists transform and prolong people’s lives by developing safe and effective medicines and vaccines, and pharmacy educators are transforming outcomes by ensuring that there are enough qualified and competent pharmacists and scientists to meet the growing needs of our societies.
