INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL COMMITTE EMBARKED ON TRANING OF DOMESTIC STAFF

Over the past week, the management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital through members of its Infection Prevention and Control Committee, embarked on the training of domestic staff on hand hygiene and waste management.

This annual training is part of the Continuous Medical Education for Health Care Workers, to improve infection prevention and control practices in the facility and establish a culture of providing quality care at all times, especially with the 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing.

The training which took place in the Nurse’s House UBTH from 6th to 10th September 2021, involved lectures and practical demonstration on the steps in hand washing/hand rubbing, and management of healthcare waste form generation to final disposal.

A total of 521 HCWs participated in this training.

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital was taken over by the Federal Government on April 1st, 1975 as the fifth teaching hospital coming after Ibadan Teaching Hospital and Lagos Teaching Hospital.
