Mrs Barbara N. Osobajo

Mrs Barbara N. Osobajo is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, Edo State.

Before being appointed in 2022, She was the Group Head, Financial Institutions, Heritage Bank Lagos.

She had also headed the South-South banking operations as the pioneer Regional Manager of the Bank, having responsibility over the experience centers across the entire South South Zone, and played a key role in staff onboarding, retaining client relationships, and ensuring seamless flow of banking processes during the acquisition of its legacy Bank.

Before joining public service, Mrs. Osobajo had worked in the oil & gas industry as well as other banks and brings to bear years of experience as a Seasoned Administrator and innovator to public service, being a highly celebrated Service Delivery Champion. She is currently spearheading the digitization of processes within the Ministry for efficient and effective service delivery.

At the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, she oversees the operations of the Social Welfare Department, Child Services, Gender Issues and Rehabilitation Departments.

She is the current Secretary Edo State Gender-Based Violence Management Committee and Chairman, of the Child Rights Implementation Committee. She is passionate about rendering service to humanity through well-planned initiatives and programs.

Mrs. Osobajo is a graduate of the University of Benin with a B.Sc in Economics and Statistics, has several certifications, a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators as well as a fellow. Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria.

She likes meeting people, traveling, and helping others in need.
