Mrs. Florence Aimufia

Born on 15 July 1943 (80 years old).

She had her primary and secondary education between January 1952 and December 1960.

She qualified as a Grade One midwife in September 1963 and as a staff nurse in 1972.

She obtained a Diploma in Nursing Administration and Management from the University of Benin in 1983.

Mrs. Florence Aimufia served the Edo State government for 35 years and retired as an Assistant Director of Nursing Services and Head of Nursing Services in the then Central Hospital Benin City in the year 2000.

As the nursing officer in charge of the O&G Dept., she was the pioneer coordinator of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative programme in Central Hospital, Benin City.

In the course of her career, she attended several nursing programmes within and outside Edo State, including the UCH Ibadan course on neonatal care in 1973, the lactaction management courses in 1995, and 1997, respectively.

Her hobbies are gardening and singing in church choir.

Since 2019, Mrs. Florence Aimufia has actively supported elder care in UBTH through annual grants to team members.

She is a mother and grandmother dearly loved by her many biological and other children for her appetizing meals, wise counsels, friendship, and motherly care.

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital was taken over by the Federal Government on April 1st, 1975 as the fifth teaching hospital coming after Ibadan Teaching Hospital and Lagos Teaching Hospital.
