NASU PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE MANAGEMENT OF UBTH

The Non- Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Edo State Council today paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City. This visit necessitated by the 2023 Quadrennial delegate Conference/Election which held at the NASU Secretariat in the Hospital.

At the Board room venue of courtesy visit, the delegation led Mr. Emmanuel Amalu said the purpose of their visit was to formally invite the Chief Medical Director (CMD) to deliver a key-note address and declare the Conference/ Election open.

While responding, the CMD, Prof Darlington E. Obaseki commended the Union for choosing UBTH as venue/host of the Conference. He emphasized the importance that this Management attaches to staff welfare since it assumed office over six years ago. NASU as well as other Unions have had robust and productive collaborations with Management throughout the period mentioned.

The CMD further told the visitors that one of the strategic objectives outlined in the hospital’s strategic reform plan is to advance staff welfare and satisfaction at all times.

Declaring the conference/election opened, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee,(CMAC) Prof. Stanley Okugbo, (who reps the CMD) remarked that Hospital Management has put measures in place to cushion the effect of subsidy removal by providing buses in different locations to convey staff to and fro the hospital daily.
The highpoint of the conference/ election was the dissolution of the erstwhile executives who were all reappointed subsequently unopposed.
