The attention of Management of University of Benin Teaching Hospital has been drawn to a front page publication in Vanguard 9 April, 2020 which was titled “COVID-19: Panic at UBTH over blunders on tests”.
We wish to state that the news item was unduly sensational and inaccurate though we would not publicly discuss information about our patients.
The Management of University of Benin Teaching Hospital states emphatically that, there is no panic in UBTH and members of the public are encouraged to disregard any information to the contrary. Our staff especially the Rapid Response Team have been properly trained, adequately equipped with the necessary PPE(s) and are motivated to help any person who may become infected with this disease.
Services are being rendered in a calm atmosphere by our committed staff in harmony with allied institutions and the general public.
We reassure the public of continued commitment to patient care, even in the present times.
This supersedes our earlier press release dated 9 April, 2020
Thank you.
Joshua Uwaila, Esq
Head, Public Relations Officer.
