The Aiguobasinmwan Movement Worldwide, a socio-cultural body that cuts across the ethnic groups of Edo State, were in UBTH recently to pay courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Idia N. Ize-Iyamu.
The delegation, led by its President, Mr. Iyamu Osati Cuture, congratulated the CMD on her appointment and shared some insight into some issues they felt germane to proper healthcare delivery in the state.
The CMD expressed appreciation to the movement for their show of solidarity and for their suggestions.
Speaking on infrastructural development, the CMD explained that UBTH was founded more than 50 years ago, at a time when Edo State’s population was far smaller than it is today. She stressed that the institution is evolving and adjusting to meet current realities.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu further commended the Edo State Government under Governor Okpebholo for its intervention in the health sector, particularly the approval of a ₦2.5 billion project for the construction of a modern Paediatric Centre in UBTH. She described the initiative as an unprecedented move that will significantly transform paediatric healthcare services for children in Edo State and beyond.
