Akoh, Chief Horticulture Officer is the Head of the Horticulture Unit in the hospital. The University of Benin Teaching Hospital is renowned not only for excellence in medical care but also for its beautiful landscape and ambience that compliments the quality care rendered to patients. Mr. Akoh has over the years ensured, that the hospital maintains its aesthetic appeal to all and sundry. He ensures that flowers are always well manicured, the lawns well mowed and the green areas are a beauty to behold all. Mr Akoh is dutiful, hardworking and a good mobilizer of men and materials. He brings to bear a deep understanding of plants, trees and flowers which has had tremendous positive effects on the hospital environment. This in turn has positively affected the perceptions of the public about the hospital as an environmentally friendly hospital. A warm congratulations goes to Mr. Samuel D. The University of Benin Teaching Hospital was taken over by the Federal Government on April 1st, 1975 as the fifth teaching hospital coming after Ibadan Teaching Hospital and Lagos Teaching Hospital.
