STAFF OF THE MONTH, AUGUST 2024
our staff of the month of August 2024 is Prof. Omolade Augustina Awodu (FNAMed, MBChB, MD, FMCPath) a Professor of Haematology at the School of Basic Clinical Sciences, UNIBEN and Consultant Haematologist UBTH.
She’s currently the Head of Department and the National President of the Nigerian Society For Haematology and Blood Transfusion (NSHBT). She’s also the Chair of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis group of the NSHBT and the Director of the South-South Haemophilia treatment centre (HTC) in Nigeria.
A compassionate person, She’s empathetic to her patients and generally has a demure and unassuming personality. She’s a team builder and player who has trained many Consultant Haematologists scattered across the globe. She has used her influence to professionally develop her junior colleagues and residents.
Prof. Awodu is a silent achiever. She was pivotal to the successful UBTH@50 celebrations being the Chair of the Publicity Sub-Committee.
Beyond the call of duty, this amazon has attracted equipment, projects and grants to the hospital all in a bid to improve patient’s outcomes and enhance quality care delivery.
