STAFF OF THE MONTH-JUNE, 2024

We are proud to recognize Mrs. Abieyuwa Bridget Eweka, Deputy Director, Nursing Education and Provost, College of Nursing Sciences as Staff of the Month of June 2024. This recognition is on account of her significant contributions to Nursing, both Clinical practice and Education.
Mrs. Eweka is an amiable personality and a silent achiever. She worked assiduously to see the upgrading of the erstwhile school of nursing to a College of Nursing Sciences. Part of the process included superintending over the successful merger of the different schools offering one form of nursing education or another into what has now become a College, that awards National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas in Nursing Sciences, under the supervision of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the National Board for Technical Education.
Under her leadership, two new programs have been added to the Department of Post-Basic Nursing, namely Gerontological Nursing and Critical Care Nursing. The Gerontology Nursing program began in the 2023/2024 academic session, and the Critical Care Nursing program is nearing its launch.
Mrs. A.B. Eweka, the nurse, educator and administrator is passionate and irrevocably committed to advancing nursing education not only in UBTH but the nation as a whole. Her passion for holistic healthcare training has profoundly influenced both staff and students of the College and this has helped to sustain the culture of excellence in nursing education in UBTH.
Her wealth of experience as an external examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and a member of the NBTE accreditation team to various tertiary institutions coupled with her unwavering commitment and exemplary dedication to duty are a reflection of the spirit and strength of the UBTH reality.
