In commemoration of the 2022 World Hand Hygiene Day, the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City joined the rest of the world in celebrating the day with the theme “Healthcare Quality and Safety Climate or Culture that Values Hand Hygiene and Infection Prevention and Control“.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof D.E Obaseki in his opening remark harped on the importance of hand hygiene. He noted that most infections are passed on from person to person through our hands. In other to break the chain of infection, it is very important to always wash our hands, he stated.
There was also a sensitization walk round the hospital and lectures on hand hygiene were delivered by Mr Ephraim Ibadin and Dr Ewere Ehinze during a workshop which was part of the event for the day.
The Chairman of the IPC Committee, UBTH, Dr .E. Ogboghodo charged everyone to take hand hygiene seriously.
