The University of Benin Teaching Hospital today, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, held its annual UBTH Prays 2026, bringing together members of staff in an atmosphere of worship, prayer, thanksgiving, and spiritual reflection.

The programme, themed “Not by Might, Nor by Power, But by My Spirit, Saith the Lord of Hosts” (Zechariah 4:6), underscored the importance of relying on God’s Spirit in the discharge of duties and the pursuit of excellence in healthcare delivery.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, in her opening remarks, welcomed participants and reaffirmed Management’s commitment to fostering not only professional excellence but also the spiritual well-being of members of staff.

She encouraged everyone to continually depend on God’s wisdom, strength, and guidance in carrying out their responsibilities.

The atmosphere was charged with heartfelt worship, fervent prayers, and great anticipation as the guest speaker, Rev. Fidelis O. Okojie, ministered on the theme. He taught that true success, lasting impact, and sustainable progress cannot be achieved by human strength or influence alone but through total dependence on the Spirit of God. He further admonished participants to remain steadfast in faith, uphold integrity, and allow God’s Spirit to direct every aspect of their personal and professional lives.

Special prayers were also offered for the leadership of the hospital, members of staff, patients, and the nation, with participants committing the affairs of the institution into God’s hands.

Present at the event were the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu; members of the Hospital Management Committee; the Coordinator of the Edo Intercessors Forum, Prince Iyare; Heads of Departments; members of staff; and other invited guests.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Chairman, UBTH Prayer Committee, Dr. (Mrs.) E. O. Yovwin, who expressed profound appreciation to the hospital management, the guest speaker, members of the Hospital Management, Heads of Departments, the Edo Intercessors Forum, the Prayer Committee, and all members of staff for their support and participation in making UBTH Prays 2026 a success. She encouraged staff to remain steadfast in prayer and continue to rely on the Spirit of God in the discharge of their duties.
