Today, as we join the global community to commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2026, the University of Benin Teaching Hospital celebrates and appreciates the countless voluntary blood donors whose selfless acts continue to save lives every day.
Blood remains an essential component of healthcare, playing a critical role in emergency care, surgeries, maternal health, cancer treatment, and the management of various medical conditions. Yet, it can only be made available through the generosity of individuals willing to donate.
This year’s theme, “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives,” highlights the impact a single act of kindness can have on the lives of others. Every unit of blood donated represents hope for a patient in need, another chance at life for someone facing a medical emergency, and a powerful demonstration of our shared humanity.
On this special day, UBTH recognizes and thanks all voluntary blood donors for their invaluable contributions to healthcare delivery. We also encourage eligible individuals to become regular blood donors and join the life-saving mission of ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for all who need it.
One drop can make a difference. One donation can save lives
Happy World Blood Donor Day 2026.
One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.
