WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY CELEBRATION 2023

THEME: GIVE BLOOD, GIVE PLASMA, SHARE LIFE, SHARE OFTEN.

The world blood donor day is a day set aside internationally to create awareness for blood donation and honor blood donors

Blood is life and it consist of fluid plasma with red blood cell, platelets, white blood cell, and cognation proteins suspended in it. Blood is a scarce commodity as the channel for blood per outweigh meet supply,

There are various categories of blood donor which are;
1) Voluntary non remunerated donors
2) Family replacement donor
3) Commercial donors (paid donor)
4) Autologous donors.

The world blood donor day is set aside to celebrate the true altruistic donors who are hero’s saving life by donating their blood voluntarily to patients who are in dire need of blood, patients require blood transfusion cut across accident victims, pregnant women in labor ward, patient in the operating theatre, renal patients, cancer patients on chemotherapy etc.

 Be a true hero today donate blood and save life, share blood, share plasma often
 A donor is eligible to donate blood if apparently healthy and within the age of 18 to 60years
 Male or female can donate blood.
 A donor is eligible to donate blood every three, months.
 Most often from a unit of blood donate blood product, fresh frozen plasma(FFP) and platelet rich plasma(PRP)can be prepare these product (FFP) is useful in arresting bleeding and replacement of coarctation aorta
 FFP and PRP are available in the blood bank.
