WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY 2022 🩸

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital in conjunction with The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (UBTH Chapter) today joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Blood Donor Day, 2022.

A blood donation drive was organized as part of the activities of the day. A good number of persons were happy to donate blood at the event knowing that they were collaborating to save lives.

Attendees were further lectured on safe donation and the importance of blood donation to those in dire need.
The selfless donors were applauded for their gift to humanity while others who were skeptical were also implored to become regular donors and join the solidarity.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. D.E. Obaseki flagged off the 2022 World blood donors day and charged every healthy young person to make it a routine to donate blood.

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital was taken over by the Federal Government on April 1st, 1975 as the fifth teaching hospital coming after Ibadan Teaching Hospital and Lagos Teaching Hospital.
